  Mine had the chewiness that signals freshly baked bagels, along with another telltale sign: steam rising once I lifted the top half. I was in the mood for melted butter and they were generous; look at the buttery shine left on the wrapper. It was enough to draw out a complaint from the octogenarian with a buttered bagel beside me, "its dripping down my hand!"
